[HUAWEI P50 POCKET REVIEW]
If you haven’t noticed, foldables are finally happening. The past year has seen Samsung’s dominant Galaxy Fold family challenged by Huawei; Xiaomi; Honor and Oppo. Even Microsoft has recently gained ground with its Surface Duo 2, whose updates have rendered it much more palatable as a dual-screen device.
But maybe you noticed the pattern there: all those are full-format book-style foldables. For those who also enjoy the more petite flavor – the clamshell flip phone – well, it’s mostly been The Samsung Show. Motorola has fallen behind since kicking off the category in 2019, and a would-be clamshell competitor from TCL was canceled before reaching production.
So: the P50 Pocket was destined to make a splash no matter which manufacturer made it. And as it happens, it hails from a company whose beleaguered business condition has done nothing to blunt its hardware engineering prowess. I’m Michael Fisher and I’ve spent two weeks with the first flip phone from Huawei: the P50 Pocket!

To me it a ugly phone
The perfect man for the job! Just the review I was waiting to see! Great job, bro!
As much as I hate center crease on my fold 3, I love what it does to set the screen on whatever angle I want. It is so convenient to watch youtube or adjust angle to take a timelapse video. I literally don't need a ketchup bottle to make the screen stand to watch videos or hold the phone for 30 minutes to record my daughter playing a musical instrument for the concert. I will never go back to other phones.
Huawei spies on you.
This is probably is the ugliest design i've seen in a while.
Asians just can't do good designs
it's sad how good Huawei tech is, and knowing how much better it could be if they didn't have so many limitations from the US
No matter what direction we go with phones they will all look the same lol
it's possible to use Google services organically without using gspace or anything, but you've just gotta try hard enough to learn/pay someone to do the xda for you.
Nice device but the back design is disgustingly offensive it should be illegal.
I feel huawei just follow samsung all the time
That thing is ugly af lol.
8:07 How to get GSpace scrolling app drawer space? Mine is stuck into 9 apps per page and half of the app drawer space is empty
I still don't get what the point of clam shells is nowadays. It adds 0 extra usability to the phone unlike proper foldables that at least provide a bigger screen
I feel the quality of your videos are criminally UNDERRATED! TOP NOTCH! You should have 10x the subs!
Huawei hotspot is super light on battery.
The first manufacturer that can release a clamshell foldable with a 4,000+mah battery and flagship level camera in the US will be the winner of the foldable war. Samsung is getting close but someone could beat them. Xiaomi's battery tech will definitely give them an adequate though. If you can't release a big battery, Give it a really fast charging battery. Or make it replaceable.
Chinese phone? Na, thanks
Does Huawei just copy and paste from Samsung?
the resonating note i took from this is that Google has too much power. like someone else in the comments said, developers needs to come up with a solution to using apps without Play Services/GAccount.
Oh god, it looks so tacky.
Moto's large tear drop folding design is also much better for durability. As it puts less stress on the screen, avoiding the famous Z Flip Z Fold crease breaking lcd issue
I hope the Motorola Patent on a new folding phone with the screen outward isnt a ptent for the future Razr. The concept is novel, but a folding phone that has such an exposed closed screen is tewible
I prefer the much cleaner look of the flip to this P50 pocket design. Either ways it still looks beautiful but definitely not for me.
Can you make an s22 review and don't merge the s22 plus with it?
ugly texture
