***NOTE: it is best to have a computer glasses prescription measured by a trained eye care professional. The following guide is an approximation based on a person’s age and assumed computer viewing distance and assumes no need for distance correction.

Based on a function of age for a person with emmetropia (no correction)
40 and younger: (+)0.25 – (+)0.50 Diopters
40-49: (+)0.50 – (+)1.00 Diopters

When I was buying glasses today they where really really really pushing for me to buy blue light glasses (*NOT* computer glasses). Like holy (edited) pushing. And yet I can't find any scientific studies anywhere on the internet that prove that blue blockers are necessary if your going to use a phone, or computer screen (though funny that noone pitched TV's or counter displays (same tech)). They also tried to pull a scare tactic by trying to tell me it's the leading cause of macular degeneration (?!!), and other eye diseases(?!). I can't find any proof of that anywhere. I've never had problems sitting in front of computer screens for long hours (been a hard core computer guy for well over 30 years – I don't wear glassess at for that (I'm near sighted and very comfortable reading with out glasses), and I sit the proper distance from my screens (follow other good practices as well) – and no, I don't take my phone or any other device with a screen to bed with me). What is with the huge push for blue light glasses (or blue light coatings)? UV coatings I do understand why one wants them. But not the blue light blocking coatings…

Hi Doctor Allan . I had my cataracts done, I work in the Hair industry so of course I need reading prescription in my glasses! The rest is just plane glass or plastic. I’m always on my IPAD but if I decide to go to the store my vision is a bit blurry for about an hour after. I do have a slight stigmatism correction in my right lens. I’m do for another vision check. Plus I just got my eyes Lasered for the foggyness after the cataract surgery. I thought I was going to escape that but I didn’t but I was good for four years. The blue lenses sound like a good idea.

I have not gotten any glasses yet. I am still looking for what I need. Idk if I need gaming glasses , computer glasses or Blue Light Glasses. I sounds like the gaming glasses would be what I am looking for but I have trouble walking and a different field of view could effect my balance. I could just take the glasses off before getting up so it is not that big of a deal.

I'm Tayo from Nigeria, I use -8.50,-8.50.
I use my laptop all day, and some times I get strains, and head aches.
So I'm planning to do a phototransition on my prescription lenses.
What do you think about that, and what's your recommendations…
Thanks

I used gaming glasses for some time… ended up with worst vision then before because of that slight magnification which wasn't mentioned in the description. Now I'm using simple polarized yellow tinted glasses.

So which one you recommend for eye protection in this era where our screen time is much more than others.
My screen time is like 10-14h which i think isn’t good at this young age of 20 so i want to know which one is good for eye protection.

I use computer glasses with the blue filter. I have to wonder if there is eye strain from switching vision strengths frequently.
